This website has been created with passion and commitment by Nyki’s (very) small team. Nyki is a school tutoring social business based in Luxembourg.
Here are some clarifications we would like to share with you.
About learning methodology:
The “sensory perceptions” quiz has been defined based on the VAK model (visual, auditory, kinesthetic). This VAK model has been at the centre of many criticisms as learning styles or memory styles. Indeed, those notions do not define ways we remember information, or ways we learn, but rather ways we gather/receive information. It is important to keep in mind that we all learn and gather data through all these canals. It does thus not make sense to jump to conclusions such as “I have a visual memory”, “I have an auditory memory” or “I have a kinesthetic memory”. However, each of us may have one or two preferred canals for gathering information. This is the notion that we are willing to share through this quiz. Please note that multimodal work (meaning the use of various forms of information) is the most efficient way to memorise information. These are all the reasons why we decided to show you a repartition score between the three types of sensory perception at the end of the quiz, rather than a unique answer.
Motivation profiles have been theorized by M. Jean-François Michel. This quiz has been elaborated based on the 4 profiles that he has defined.
Learning methodology tools are never approved of all and may always be criticized or debated: the scientific conclusions of the studies on these subjects are constantly evolving. Our goal is not to offer a miracle solution nor a perfect one, but rather to help each learner wonder what could work for them, and arouse their curiosity about self-knowledge.
About math:
Each quiz may not cover the entire school curriculum of each year: the purpose of our tests is to bring together all the key concepts that we have seen to be the most fragile for most of the students we have been helping over several years. Moreover, school curricula may often be subject to changes, and our tests are meant to help students schooled in various school systems: please share with us any feedback you wish to help us improve this website’s contents!
About French:
At the moment, we are offering two tests which gather the most frequent mistakes in French. These tests are meant both for students learning French as a foreign language, and French natives willing to revise some basics and avoid some commonly-made mistakes. These tests will evolve: all your ideas of contents are welcome!
